Off we go

Well, we are trying to get ready to leave for Alaska tomorrow. We leave tomorrow morning around 10am. We are almost packed and will finish up in the morning.
My youngest brother, Brent, is getting married Sat up in Cooper Landing, Alaska. You are going to love the pictures once we get back and I put them on here. It really is pretty up there especially right now. Plus all the men are excited about fishing. Forget the wedding what is more important then fishing!!!
Please keep up in your prayers. There are a total of 12 of us going up there with 3 kids under 3. It should be a joyful adventure. A friend of mine emailed me today saying she would pray for me but to also to look at it in the way you would look at a kidney stone. THIS TO SHALL PASS! She is always a hoot and making me laugh!
Pray for us a safe trip!!!

So, I am working on my recipes. My sister gave me a recipe box as a hostess gift and I have finally compiled them all. All those torn out Southern Living magazine recipes are now on 4X6 index cards nicely filed in their appropriate category. Now I want to type them up and compile them on the computer. This way when I cook something new I can share it with everyone.
That of course is my goal. It might just take me a while.

I am going to start with something simple though. I realized the other night that my husband was out of his Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate ice cream and he had no desert. I asked him if he wanted a Key Lime Pie. He of course said yes. It literally took me a whole 5 minutes to make one. I purposely made the effort to keep the ingredients on hand for an occasion like this. He ended up falling asleep before eating any but I got a text this morning while I work that my pie was GOOD! This is how good it was. It is now half gone!

So, I haven't quite figured it out how to put the recipe onto a link so you can just click on it from here. As soon as I do though I will include it. I am including the recipe for Weight Watchers Key Lime Pie. I haven't tried it yet but a friend of mine says it is yummy!

Here is the recipe for mine though.

Key Lime Pie
1 graham cracker crust
1 can condensed milk
1 small can or half a large can of frozen limeade
1 tub of cool whip

Mix last three ingredients together and pour into crust. It is better if you let it chill in the refrigerator for an hour or two.

My Sweet Papaw

We lost my papaw early this am. We knew this was coming for about 2 weeks now but it still hurts. He definetly was the "head of our family" and ruled things his way to the very end. My uncle and I were talking one day last week and made the comment that he had done everything in his life his way and when he went to be with the Lord it was going to be his way also.

Papaw is not really "my papaw." Papaw is Mr. Doug's dad(my step-father) but we never used those words when we were growing up nor do we now. I have always considered myself one of his own grandchildren and he always made me feel like I was one of his own also.

One evening last week I counted up how many there were of us now starting with Papaw and Mamaw. Counting them, my soon to be sister in law, and neice arriving in September there are 32 of us. How awesome is that! Papaw and Mamaw had 3 children, 8 grandchildren plus spouses, and 11 great grandchildren. What is even more wonderful is 2 of the 3 sons are ministers and we all know the Lord. We have been so blessed. I have included some pictures. The first one is when Papaw and Mamaw got married and the most recent one I had is from my sister's wedding 2 years ago. I think they look just the same. They celebrated 65 yrs of marriage last year. Isn't that awesome!!!! We have so much to be thankful for. Although we will miss him, we know he is with the Lord.

Al's Birthday Party

Al and his wife Amanda

It was really hard to get all 3 looking at the camera including PawPaw.

Al and his new addition, Lauren aka Chunky Monkey!

It seems as though our weekends are full of birthday parties. Friday was Al's 30th birthday (8/8/08) so we went to eat at Froghead Grill in Clinton. Of course, it ended being more about the kids then Al but he understood. After eating we went to Al and Amanda's house for Bop's oreo cookie cake! It was very "yummy" as Isabella says.

Isabella also had a birthday party Sunday afternoon. It was a friend of mine's little boy's 2nd birthday. I think ball parties are a great idea BUT no real balloons. I HATE balloons! Isabella kept picking one up and putting it in her mouth. I just knew it was going to pop right on her mouth. It didn't but it just scares the poop out of me! Wonder if I had some traumatic balloon experience as a child and can't remember it but remember that I hate them!!! Isabella had fun though!

Other than that we had a uneventful weekend. Just the kind I like. I do have to share one sweet story of Isabella. Saturday morning Darren had gotten home from work and we were all three just sitting there talking. Isabella sneezed and before we got to say, "God bless you." She said, "Bless me". It was the sweetest thing. My sweet little girl!

Social Butterfly

This past weekend we had a very busy weekend. Isabella had 2 birthday parties Saturday. We started off in Magee for my neice's 5th birthday. I knew Isabella was going to be the youngest there so I went prepared. My sister in law had rented a wet blow up slide that I knew my little one would want to do but I would have to do it with her. So, I did. It was fun and of course Isabella loved it. She also loved the swing set and trampoline. Our neice is an only child so has it all including the pink 4 wheeler she got for this birthday. Isabella was in heaven.

Later on that evening, we went to Build a Bear for my little cousin's 2nd birthday. They are in town since my papaw is so sick so we had to have a party for Anna Suzanne. We had never been to Build a Bear and I thought it was a great idea. Isabella wasn't quite into it but I enjoyed it and she got a cute bear! Needless, to say she and I both had a lot of fun but are worn out!
